Toilet renovation project

About this project:

Worldwide, 525 000 children under five die from diarrhoea each year, killing over 1.400 children younger than five every day-more than AIDS, malaria, and measles combined. The largest single cause of these deaths are attributed to poor hygiene, sanitation, and unsafe drinking water. Access to safe water and hygienic latrines can reduce mortality rates by up to 90%.

In Malawi, 4.500 children die every year of diarrhoea. This is not acceptable, when you know that most diarrheal deaths are preventable using simple, low-cost interventions.

For this reason, we want a clean and working latrine for each of the 17 pre-schools.

In the summer of 2018 we provided funds for new latrines for the newly constructed schools, Chisomo II and Tikondane II. We also provided materials to renovate the toilets at Mathithi and Chitimbe II.

The toilet renovation project, is an ongoing project. Together with the Chiefs, teachers and volunteers, we continuously work to keep up the hygienic standard of these latrines.

Help us to rebuild schools, setting up food aid programs & improving the average health conditions in Malawi.

Schools For Malawi VZW is a fundraising organisation, dedicated to support pre-schools in TA Kuntaja region, Malawi.
